Easter bits and bobs

Well we had a lovely weekend last week. We stayed at the in laws for a couple of days and of course the Easter Bunny paid a little trip ...........

Here is what my little girl received and I also found this lovely little pillow for her room from my local bargain store surprisingly. Amazing how you can find pretty little things in the most least expected of places.  They had some other chintzy stuff too but I resisted - maybe next time.

My mum popped over for a visit at our house too and made an Easter Bonnet with my little girl Miss Ells.

Modelled very well Miss Ells.

When we stayed at granny's the Easter Bunny also paid a visit there and here is Miss Ells collection .....

Miss Ella was also a busy bee and made these delightful little bunnies/chicks
A sweet neighbour of my in laws had also been crafty and was giving out these little baskets to the children on the street but could only find Miss Ells at the time....
I managed to get a bit of crafting in too and practised a crochet circle ...... ta dah!!!!!
And I have also finished a project and below is my bubbles face cloth. The picture shows the green colour better than a previous post. I decided not to do crochet edging as I did not like the look and I decided not to do a letter in the box but a suggestion of pink. I think they look a little like pink tulips.  I could not do the stitching very well so decided on three small stitches in stead.

Hope you all enjoyed the Royal wedding today. It was fabulous wasn't it? Kate's dress was fantastic loved the lace work on her arms. Her sister looked lovely too in her white dress...Wonderful. All the Royals looked great and the Queens yellow dress was lovely and sunny. The men looked very, very dapper.

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading. Bye for now xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Leah !

Le Double crochet, Le Treble Crochet

Well I am pretty chuffed with my crochet efforts! Very happy with my double crochet and have been learning Treble Crochet this weekend. Once I had learned Double Crochet I found learning the Treble Crochet a whole lot easier. Below shows my efforts from last Weekend.
Trully terrible but hey it's a learning curve....

And here are my results from this Weekend.
I tried the treble again as was not totally happy about my practise square and here is my second attempt.

Far happier with this one.

I have also found my first crochet project I want to do which involves only Double Crochet. It's from a past Let's Knit magazine but just need to purchase the wool and I'm away......

I find this book below really useful to refer to when learning stitches in Crochet and Knitting and it's proved very, very useful to me. It also has lots of patterns which may seem a little old fashioned in style but some are just timeless and there are lots of future projects in this waiting for me to do.

Sorry picture on the side but here is a sample in the book which shows step by step instructions.

Another book I have found of great use is this book shown below. I find it very useful as a beginners book in knitting.
And here is a picture of a future project I plan to make for Miss Ells one day.
Quite like the strawberry one at the top.

Well as for knitting below is another little project I've started called Bubbles, facecloth. The yarn is Rico essentials cotton dk and it's a lovely light weight yarn, really easy to handle. I love the colours I've chosen. I plan on making one for me and one for Miss Ells but they would also be great as a present with some soap wrapped inside.

However I was a little annoyed because I have already come across two knots in the yarn and only just started the project :/. I have decided to just carry on as you really can't see the knots now they've been knitted in and I did not want the hassle of cutting the yarn and starting again as the instructions for joining in a new yarn were a little too much like hard work to me.
This Weekend we have also been to a children's party for little Noah who was One. Lots of fun for Miss Ells......

I also bought Miss Ells a lovely pair of summer pumps. Very pretty and girly x

And finally I can't leave without showing you some more flowers I have received this week.

These purple tulips are a present from my mother in law Janice. Thank you Janice!. Thought I would capture them before they fade away.

And here is a bunch of flowers I treated myself to today - it's got to be done. x

And I will leave with a song that I've been thinking about this week. I remember watching the final tour on T.V in 1999 and having a tear in my eye because I was in my final year of University and was saying goodbye to some very good precious friends as we went on our separate paths. So this song reminds me of that time in my life.

Bye for now and have a lovely, sunny week! Leah xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Crochet Beginnings and other stuff .....

Well I have finally picked up a crochet hook and started to practise the basic chain and double crochet. Wow it is very difficult. I feel a little more comfortable with holding the yarn and hook now and can sort of make an even chain but I am a bit wonky on my basic square and it seems to go quite tight as I'm going along. Pracise make perfect I say  and below is my efforts. One day soon you will see a perfect double crochet square and then I'm going to tackle the treble, and in a few years my first project.

I might chose a lighter colour yarn to see the loops more clearly.

Remember Rosie Dolly well below is my little girl with her new dolly. It makes it all worthwhile finishing something and seeing how much Miss Ells loves her.
I was looking through my stuff the other day - knitting stuff that is and was thinking I really need another pair of 4mm needles to get cracking on another project. Then I was thinking I can't quite believe how my collection for a fairly new knitter is growing. Below is my collection in a nice knitting needle wrap I keep them in.

Another bit of randomness - it was such a lovely (summer is coming soon) weekend. The sun was shining and I got out in our little back garden and noticed a few things starting to come through.

Our garden is a bit of a tip at the moment as we really need to get this sorted but I have a few pots scattered here and there.

I thought I would show you a pretty thing I have that I found the other day buried deep in a drawer. I love it when you think you have lost something and it just turns up. It's a little lipstick case with a mirror inside that I really like and Miss Ells loves to play with.
And finally here is a picture of my little gift Miss Ells brought for me on Mother's day. I have got my thinking cap on for some other projects I could do with felt.

Oh and one more thing - these always remind me of Easter - a bunch of yellow daffodils. Always cheer me up.
Take care and have a great week oh and thanks for reading. X Leah xx

Everythings Rosie

Finished my little dolly for my little girl Ells. The pattern was Jilly from www.letsknit.co.uk April issue but Ella has renamed her Rosie very apt with the rose in the hat.

I really like Ella's little money box as well which says' Cheerful and determined with the prettiest claws in the land.

My father in law Pete gave me this material - quite a lot of it in fact and I've been scratching my head thinking what on earth to make with it. Does any one have any suggestions?
The picture is not very clear but it's red and white stripes.

Talking of sewing I have been meaning to mention some little gifts I have received over the years by Donna Riva Burdacky.  She is very talented and made all of these herself. Donna is hopefully going to create her own website one day so watch this space....

My Pin cushion which has been passed down to me from my mother in law Janice as made by Donna Riva Birdacky - Janice' s sister.

This elephant cushion is hugged and snugged all the time by Ell's - getting a little worn now but so cute again another of Donna's creations.

Now this is a patchwork cushion made for me quite some years ago now by Donna. It currently live's in my daughter's room and has a little pocket to put some Lavender in etc. I think it's gorgous don't you agree.

Last night I was up late as had to finish reading this book. Sorry picture upside down this time. I have not put a full review on Librarything yet but I found I got quite bored but there is some real twists that make it all worth while in the end.

If you can't read this up side down it's by Rosamund Lupton - ' Sister'.

Today of course I spent the day with my mum and my sister. Here's a little picture of them both. We went to Birckacre garden centre, Chorley which has a restaurant. I really can't eat any more now....

And here are a lovely picture of my mum's ear-rings because I think they are really pretty like my mum - awwwww. :)

And here are a few goodies I bought whilst I was there. I plan on wearing the bracelet on a much needed night out with very good friends next Friday night. Excited as not been out in agessssss so very much needed.

And finally this morning I got a really lovely card from my beautiful daughter and I can not wait to give her Miss Dolly Rosie now she's finished.

I will leave you with this song as was listening to this last night and really enjoy her music. It's by Beth Nielson Chapman and it's called How We Love. The words are what move me in this song.

Good bye for now and enjoy the rest of your Sunday. xX
