Incy Wincy Spider

Miss Ells and me did a bit of crafty playdoe modelling yesterday and this is what we created.

Incy Wincy Spider climbs up the water spout, down came the rain and  washed the spider out. out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain and Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the spout again.

Meet mummy spider .....................

And baby spider ......
And oh what a gathering it was when mummy spider met up with the frog and the fly ................

Anyway thought I would update you with my gran's 90th birthday blanket. The stacks are mounting as you can see..........

I could not resist spreading it all out to have a little glimpse .....
I'm seriously addicted to making these little squares. 64 ish littleones to go and 30 odd big sqaures of six rounds to go. Nice easy first project but we shall see about the easy part when it comes to sewing it all up together.

Talking about sewing I have had a bit of an inspiration wave flash. My little girl has own little red chair and desk. Anyway hubby decided to cover the chair seat with this black foamy stuff to try and make this more comfortable for Miss Ells but Little Miss did not like this too much and has tryed to gouge holes in this and scrape it off :(. This is her little red chair.
Now do you remember some red and white stripey material I was given from father in law a few posts ago?

Well I'm going to make a cushion seat for Miss E's red chair. My plans are to have little button details - may do that make your own fabric buttons I've seen being done on a few other blogs, I'm going to do some sort of applique design with felt possible and I'm going to have a pretty red edging. We shall see as I go along. This is going to be a hand sewing project as it's only a little cushion so I'm sure it can be done ...... watch this space to see how this all goes......

I've had a lovely day today as a little birthday celebration as it's my birthday tomorrow ahem cough cough 35!  I opened one of my presents early and it was a special request for this lovely new book.

The Gentle Art of Knitting by Jane Brocket
I can't wait to have a good look through this book a little later on - so many new projects xxxx
I spent today with my two favourite lady's My beautiful mum and my younger sister.
We enjoyed coffee and cake ......................... mmmmmmmmmmmmm at Starbucks ..................
The apple do-nut was to die for mmmmmmmmmmm

My sister striking a pose  xxxxxx
We went to see this great film
Very very funny film - I was laughing most of the film - go and see this if you want a giggle.

And I remember this song featured in the film when I was a teenager - always wondered what happened to this group.. great song

Then we ate lots of pizza at Frankie and Bennies and the two lady's embarrassed me by gathering the staff and singing happy birthday whilst delivering a bowl of ice - cream with a candle in it...
This is me and my lovely mum.
Notice my very very red face **blush**
Anyway see you when I'm back from hols and will be doing a belated birthday giveaway so watch this space ......xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Leah x

Baking and Home made soup making day

Oh what a dreary few days we have been having around here .............

Rain Rain go away come again another day .... Well I hope it brightens up a little teeny bit for this Thursday as that's when we are off on our travels. May have to pack the wellies and woolies instead ..... still it will be so much fun all staying cosy in the caravan. Haven Holidays here we come.....
Yesterday was non stop rain - same as today so what could I entertain my little three year old with ..... Baking of course whilst I did some cooking.

And here are Miss E's buscuits ..... Tadahhhhhh

And I had a go at this but be warned this is a very hot hot soup and will be using half a chillie next time.
INDIAN POTATOE AND PEA SOUP

This is from Cook's library One Pot by Parragon
Serves 4
2 tbsp vegetable oil
225g/8 oz of flowery potatoes, diced
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1tsp garam masala
1tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground cumin
850 ml/1 half pints of vegetable stock
1 fresh red chilli, chopped
100g/ 3 half oz frozen peas
4 tbsp natural yogurt
salt and pepper
chopped coriander, to garnish
warm bread, to serve

1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large , heavy- based saucepan. Add the potatoes, onion and garlic and saute over a low heat, stirring, for about 5 minutes.

2. Add the garam masala, ground coriander and ground cumin and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.

3. Stir in the vegetable stock and red chilli and bring the mixture to the boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes, until the potatoes begin to break down.

4. Add the peas and cook for a further 5 minutes. Stir in the yogurt and season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. Pour the hot soup into warm soup bowls, garnish with fresh coriander and serve with warm bread.

And here is my effort - notice the glass of water in the picture - it really was needed. Even though the seeds from the chilli were scraped out it was still very hot so will definately only use half a chilli next time.

Delishous and warming on a chilli day. Husband said it was the best soup he has ever tasted so I must have done something right ;).

Have a good week and c u soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Leah x

Miss Ells and Art

Hello all,

Myself and Miss Ells have been a bit creative yesterday - with lots of tissue paper. As you can see from below's gallery .........

The beginnings of a bumble buzzzzzzzzy beeeeeee ........
A bright colourful flower .....

Miss Ell's gallery framed in tissue paper .....

Another flower blooming ..........
Maybe we could put all the tissue paper on the floor mummy and dance on it , come on mummy dance .... it make lots of noises ..............

And here are a few masterpiece paintings we have saved and pinned up of Miss E's Nursery creations. A budding artist in the making ........

This week as well as making a couple of items for a magic ball swap I'm doing and wrapping the prezzies in yarn - which was fun I've also made a little felf flower from Mollie's Makes - rather proud as not really a sewer so I class this as my first real sewing project.

It could be a badge mummy ?

Or for my hair mummy? I think we have a new hair bobble for Miss Ells's hair .

I won a giveaway prize over at www.littlecottagecomforts.blogspot.com check out her blog if you get the chance. Here is what I won - and I'm so very very pleased.

Oooh there is lots of bunting in here I want to make when I get a new sewing machine ( I hope for my birthday or maybe for christmas fingers crossed) x
I like this as a christmas idea ..... really want to try this for christmas 2011.

I want to do this for my sister's wedding next year when she is getting ready  the night before and on the day. Very very pretty lace....

I want to have a go at making some bunting for Miss Ell's bedroom and the idea of lavender filled bunting sounds a great sleep inducing idea...

would  probably choose different fabrics to prettyfy Miss E's room though.

I also like this book as it shows a couple of stitches at the front and for someone like me who does not know any sort of stitch except mattress and running stitch this is really very very useful.

I found a discovery in my garden this week - not planted by me at all - it just appeared - the wonders of pollunation. I did not know what it was but my mum informed me it was a snap dragon - she gave me the long version name as well but can't remember....

It's gorgous is'nt it? It just appeared from my gravel in the back garden .....

I thought  I would show you a few more flowers in my garden that have appeared in the last few weeks......

And a little ladybird visitor .......  Hello Mrs ladybird
And finally here is my flowers of the week - some beautiful Roses. I like how they have slowly opened up throughout the week to display all there glory ....

And another finally .... here is a picture that Miss Ell's did yesterday to go with the song we both listened to yesterday when doing our crafting day.

Here it is if you fancy a listen .....

Well I'm off on my holiday's next week - for a visit to the North East cost at Scarborough - Filey etc . so see you all soon and have a lovely week byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Leah x
