Our Christmas 2012

Hello :)

I wanted to give you a glimpse into our christmas before this special holiday period ends. Apart from it being a bugs life with general coughs and colds flying about the lurgy household it has been lovely, relaxing and yes special. Lots of lazy days and lie-ins. Even my 5 year old daughter has slept in that extra hour instead of waking at 6.30 the crack of dawn. Routines out the window, Hot Chocolate and snuggle blankets - bliss.

Christmas telly has been great for kiddies too and I have loved the new Snowman and the Snowdog.

Here is a preview for anyone that has not seen it. It was a lovely follow up to The Snowman.

Here is our christmas tree 2012 the artificial kind I am afraid - as much as I love real trees it is easier having our trusted artificial tree. A few little additions keep making an appearance on there from Miss Ells - can you spot the bunny ears?

I don't know if I showed you our christmas angel from last year but here she is - enjoying the view.
Miss Ell's made this delightful decoration for the tree this year as well at her after school club using an old CD no less. Quite a good idea for recycling old CD's :)
I have been baby bump crocheting. Nearly there now so hopefully there will be a finished Tadahhhh to show you soon!
Miss Ell's has really wanted to get involved in crafting so I cut some wool up for her and away she was sticking and gluing and making her own necklace. I have decided that when Miss Ell's is six she can have a first childrens knitting kit and I will teach her to knit as she is very keen in helping mum.

A couple of stickers sneeked off Miss Ell's table and onto the fireplace too lol:)
We had some lovely news from our friends - our friend is expecting and they sent out this special christmas message in the post. I think she is just over 12 weeks now. I have four weeks until my due date and on reflection it does kind of go fast but the last trimester is extremely slow.
This is my friends greeting message.
Miss Ell's received a great present from Father Christmas so we spent this afternoon baking. Here is Miss Ell's the head Chef :)
And this is the muffin maker - great for children. It was less messy to use and baked the cakes well. It came with a recipe book and had a recipe to follow on the back of the presentation box too. The mixture was kind of like a batter and the cakes are quite small but very very scrummy.

I found this icing to go on top and believe me it was perfect especially as Ella does not like the hard icing - it was like butter cream.
Ell's mixing away and prepping the decorations - she was allowed to lick the bowl as well. I don't know about you but that used to be my very favourite part as a child when baking.

Out they came and let the decorating commence!

Now we have not eaten them all and we are going to take them to Miss Ell's gran and grandad's tomorrow for New Year's Eve.

I am off on a date with hubby tomorrow as well so will let you know where he took me out when I get back. Will post again in the new year but for now lovelies Hope You all Have a Very Very Happy New Year!    Leah x

Ready to pop!

Hi, Well today I am going to attempt to do a blog post from my phone as my lap top is very ancient and very very slow. So we shall see how this goes. I am 36 wks today - hence the title ready to pop! We have had a lovely cosy relaxing christmas and it is still ongoing as not back at work until next wednesday. I finish work for maternity leave on 9th January and I will be 37 wks. Kind of regretting finishing so late as I feel very very tired now and everything is a physical effort. When I had my daughter about 5 years ago I finished 6 wks earlier and found I was very impatient and had time on my hands and was very anxious for the event which is why I have made the decision to keep busy. However I have felt very rundown as I had a flu injection and 2wks later felt rotten. Just as I was over that little lovely I have caught the most horrible cold with a very annoying tickly cough. So all in all have not felt fabulous this festive period and really hope and pray I can shake it before I go into labour and pass it on to my new born baby. Right I will attempt to insert an image!

Right well not worked so this part has had to be done on my very ancient laptop :/ Hoping to get a new kindle fire HD soon so will have a bigger screen than my phone and hopefully this will let me do things on the blog quicker too. Just waiting for the price to come down on them at the moment before investing.

Woohoo images added! :) Took a while but we got there in the end. This is a make I did for my sister as a little extra christmas present. The material was one of my daughter's old shirts and I raided my tin of recycled buttons and my sewing box for ribbons. The little rose is something I saved too but don't know where from now. I stuffed with cotton wool and added Lavender oil. I have been informed that it is adorning my sister's christmas tree but have suggested to maybe hang in a wardrobe or put in a drawer  as a great deterrant for pesky moths. I have said that I have plenty of Lavender oil to keep it fresh if needs be. I love lavender. I am going to put this down in my birth plan to have lavender oil in a bath when going through the pain. Think I will stock up on more.

Here is another Lavender Heart that was an extra christmas present for my mum. All the material, ribbon and little flower I received in a swap - I think it was a vintage easter swap. It's lovely if I don't say so myself :).

I have also made another pair of these little bootees for my new arrival when she arrives. It is from Ravelry and I just adore this pattern. I am going to make another pair in a bigger size. The buttons are from the shirt I used to make my sisters heart.

Here is a picture of me which I like to call baby bump knitting. By the way my bump is a lot more bigger now and baby is thought to weigh almost six pounds- according to the books/apps anyway. I am expecting this little girl to be a good 8 pounder because second or consecutive babies are always thought to be that bit bigger and my first daughter was 7 pound 12 when she was born. I have sure been eating for England anyway.

Back in November I went to see Lional Richie at the M.E.N arena. I have not listened to him since as the concert was such a disappointment. What made it quite auful was the diva kept his audience waiting and we felt very short changed. I was pregnant and my sister who is four weeks behind me is also very pregnant and you can imagine the discomfort. Also there was nowhere to eat as everywhere was so so busy but if we had known what we knew about when Lional would come on stage we would have had plenty of time. We ended up at Macdonalds standing up! As no-one seems to care if you are pregnant or not. When ever I see a pregnant lady I always give up by seat. Is that not manners? Anyway rant over with - it's these raging hormones. Hubby and I are going to try and go and see Coldplay next year and me and my sister would like to see Kylie Minogue as she is meant to be great. Here is a picture of my sister which reflects our mood on the Lional night - falling asleep!

I have done a bit of baking with my daughter Miss Ell's. We came across a scrummy recipe in a morrisons magazine which uses zest of orange to flavour the buscuits. Highly re-commended - they were delish and did not last long. I especially liked the chocolate :) Miss Ell's received a muffin maker for christmas - oh we are going to have lots of fun there :)

This is a book I wanted to show you as well that Miss Ell's received and I think has been excellent explaining about me and my bump. Ell's has been perfectly fine about everything and can not wait for her little sister to arrive as are we. We are so so proud o f Ell's and what a lovely little girl she is. She will be such a little helper - bless her.

Righto lovelies I am off to read some of your lovely inspirational blogs and then to crochet a blanket that has been a work in progress for months now but is almost at an end. I have been saying that for months as well ;). Happy New Year! And next time I will show you some other bits and pieces I have received this christmas.
